In 1995 Alfio graduated from the University of Central Queensland with a Bachelor of Business majoring in Accounting.
Commencing employment in early 1996 as a graduate with Paul R. O'Connor, Alfio gained knowledge in tax working under the ex-manager of the Cairns branch of the Australian Tax Office which is now closed. And the firms affiliation with the NTAA.
1998 brought an exciting new position, where Alfio took a partnership with the firm Cronin O'Connor & Co, and in 1999, he became a Tax Agent. He was responsible for a large client base and helped grow the firms turnover from $250000 to $450,000 by 2001. Four employees worked beneath Alfio, giving him the skills and experience needed to be a successful manager. During this time he also gained extensive knowledge in business structures and became a specialist in acquisitions and sales of businesses.
In 2001, Alfio began his own practice, Alfio Sciacca Accountants and he also opened a successful franchise, Best for Less Tax. Alfio continued his successful practice, Alfio Sciacca Accountants until June 2008. His franchise, Best for Less Tax, is still a growing successful business. With a low staff turnover, a growing staff portfolio of 7 by 2008 and an annual increase in overall turnover, Best for Less Tax is still a successful tax franchise.
Alfio has been actively involved in the community on several boards most notable as the Treasurer for three years for the Cassowary Coast Development Bureau. He also voluntarily contributes a regular column in the Cairns Post in which he writes about current tax, business and property issues.
Alfio began his position with Grubers Beckett Chartered Accountants as General Manager in mid 2008. He will be working with each of the Grubers Beckett branches over Queensland, New South Wales and South Australia as well as alongside Louise & Alfred Gruber (Partners of the firm), Michael Loom (Manager), the branch coordinators and branch managers. He is excited to join the team, and is motivated towards reaching his goals for the company to improve our already extensive quality services, the quality of service by our staff and to uphold our clients' high expectations.
