Louise Gruber (ne Beckett), a Partner in the firm Grubers Beckett, specialises in business advisory services and audit and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

Prior to establishing Grubers Beckett, Louise was a sole practitioner in England and had 15 years experience in Business Setup and Development Work. Throughout this period she was a registered auditor. She was also involved in defending clients interests in tax audits by the Inland Revenue. This work involved full business reviews and mark-up exercises with justification to the tax office of the figures presented by the clients against the assumptions made by the tax office. This was a highly successful part of the practice and she was well respected by the local tax office in her ability to defend the figures presented, both by the level of work undertaken in the first place and secondly, by the quality of the representations made on behalf of the clients

In 1975 she joined a two-partner firm of Chartered Accountants and obtained a thorough

grounding in general practice involving auditing, accounting, taxation and business advice. The audit work here was varied from building society audits to substantial private companies, professional partnerships and large clubs.

From 1978 to 1981 she worked for KPMG Birmingham UK in the Audit Department but was seconded to the Small Client Taxation Department on occasions because of her in-depth knowledge of relevant matters regarding direct and indirect taxation of small businesses. Over the four-year period she was involved in various audits from major public companies to substantial private enterprises.

From 1981 to 1985 she worked as assistant to the retiring partner of a 5-partner practice in Lichfield, England before setting up her own practice in Rugeley, Staffordshire, England. She was responsible for a number of years for the audit of the Diocese of Lichfield as well as substantial private companies, professional partnerships and charitable undertakings.

In 2000 she joined Agoston, Douglas & Partners in Australia and in 2001 set up the chartered accountancy practice of Grubers Beckett with Alfred Gruber FCA. During the period of time since moving to Australia she has been involved in various audits and also on a consultative basis within the practice, reviewing audit work undertaken.

In September 2003, in the course of due diligence work, she and Alfred Gruber uncovered a major fraud involving amounts misappropriated totalling in excess of $5 million. The evidence gathered led to 47 charges being laid against the fraudster.
